On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, a tree-planting action was held in Doha on May 8 with the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Qatar and the support of the Ministry of Municipality of the State of Qatar.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, a tree-planting action was held in Doha on May 8 with the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Qatar and the support of the Ministry of Municipality of the State of Qatar.

The tree planting ceremony was held at the Old Airport Park on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. A number of officials including Azerbaijan Ambassador H E Mahir Aliyev, Muhammad Ali Al Khoury, Director of the Public Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Secretary General of Expo 2023 Doha and heads of 27 diplomatic missions attended the event. 

Officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and representatives of Doha Municipality also took part in the event.

The event commenced by singing the national anthems of Qatar and Azerbaijan, which were voiced by students from a Qatari primary schools.

During the welcome speech, the Ambassador Aliyev briefed the guests about the personality of Heydar Aliyev who made an invaluable contribution to the establishment and further development of modern democratic Azerbaijan and thus has become a National Leader of Azerbaijan.

He highlighted that by focusing to perpetuate the National Leader’s memory on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary also in Qatar, Azerbaijan Embassy ensured to take necessary steps in planting 100 trees in Doha in solidarity with the ‘Planting 10 million trees’ initiative implemented in the country.

Ambassador Aliyev also thanked the Qatari representatives especially the dynamic leadership and efforts by Ministry of Municipality for encouraging and supporting this idea and rendering every organisational support to the Embassy while the necessary measures were taken in the process of implementing this significant project.
