Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the State of Qatar Rashad Ismayilov held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar

On September 9, 2018, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the State of Qatar Mr. Rashad Ismayilov met with the director of the Asian Affairs Department of Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr.Khaled Ibrahim Al-Hamar.

Speaking about the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar, the two sides expressed their interest in further development of these relations. It was noted that personal friendly relations between the President of Azerbaijan and Amir of Qatar and high-level reciprocal visits made in recent years contributed to the development of bilateral cooperation. Touching upon the role of the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Qatari Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission held in Baku in January 2017, in the development of bilateral relations, the sides agreed to start preparations for the second meeting of the intergovernmental joint commission in 2019.

The Ambassador noted that Qatar Airways carries out 14 direct flights between the two countries weekly, adding that it plays a great role in the development of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the tourism sector. He stressed that the organization of direct cargo flights between the countries in the future will increase mutual economic cooperation and trade turnover.

The ambassador briefed about the current favorable investment climate in Azerbaijan, about the reconstruction and development process goes on in our country and said that Qatari businessmen have all the opportunities for their work in Azerbaijan.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry official, in turn, underscored that his country attaches great importance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan. Noting that there are broad prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-Qatar cooperation, he said they are ready to provide necessary support in this area.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of common interest.
